Dear Community,

At White Lotus Dragon & Lion Dance, we’ve made it our mission to keep the tradition of acrobatic lion dancing alive and thriving here in Portland. It’s a powerful, beautiful art form rooted in culture, discipline, and community—and we’re proud to be the city’s only team dedicated to this unique style of performance.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of sharing lion dance with so many people—from schools and festivals to cultural events and community gatherings. It’s been amazing to watch our team grow and to see how this tradition continues to bring people together. But with that growth comes new challenges—and right now, our biggest one is space.

Our current training facility just isn’t cutting it anymore. We’ve outgrown it, and it’s holding us back from taking our team and our impact to the next level. That’s why we’re launching this GoFundMe campaign—to help us move into a new home that better supports our team and our vision.

We’ve already toured eight different warehouses around NE and SE Portland. Based on everything we’ve seen, we know exactly what we’re looking for in a long-term space:

What We Need in a New Home:

High Ceilings (22ft+): Our routines involve lifts, jumpd, flips, and stunts—so we need the height to do them safely and properly. No low-hanging pipes or beams.

Enough Room to Move (4500–5000+ sq ft):Dragon & lion dance isn’t something you can do in tight quarters. We need space to stretch out, train in groups, and rehearse full performances.

Good Lighting & Temperature Control: Being able to train comfortably, year-round, with good visibility makes a huge difference for both safety and focus.

Bathrooms: We want this space to be more than a practice spot—it’ll be a community hub. So proper restrooms are a must, especially for events and youth camps.

Safe Flooring: Acrobatics require a safe landing. The right flooring helps us avoid injuries and take care of our bodies.

Central Location: We’re focused on SE Portland—close to schools like Centennial, Franklin, David Douglas, and Clackamas—so it’s easier for local youth to get involved.

But this is about more than just having a better place to train.

We want this space to give back—to be a place where the community can come together to learn, connect, and celebrate culture. We’re will offer free classes, workshops, and events that make lion dancing more accessible to everyone, especially kids and families who might not otherwise have the chance to experience it.
