About Warren Astronomical Society
The Warren Astronomical Society is a group of amateur astronomers serving Metro Detroit including the City of Detroit. We're the oldest astronomy club in Southeastern Michigan and by many regards the most active. The Society emphasizes volunteerism and public outreach. We host two monthly indoor meetings with presentations about the science, the history, the people, and the practical aspects of astronomy, as well as space travel and cosmology. We hold monthly open houses at Stargate Observatory, and volunteer for many public events at Cranbrook Institute of Science, all over Metro Detroit and in the City of Detroit, and beyond. Our members, who live all over the Detroit area, are happy to give talks to schools, scouts, churches, and other groups young and old.
