Heroes Challenge
My name is Sharon Lombardi, and I am a personal trainer in the Chicagoland area. For the past 6 months I have been training to set a Guinness World Record for the most burpees per minute by a female. I always wanted to break a record, but honestly what use would it be if I just broke a record to just break it?
So after months of searching for a responsible charity organization(charities that use their money wisely). I decided I wanted to raise money for the Warfighter Made.
The money that goes to Warfighter Made is used to:
- Adapt, and customize a combat wounded Veteran's vehicle, so they can continue doing the things they enjoy, while their vehicle reflects their individual personality.
- Invite ill, injured and combat wounded Veterans to participate in our recreational therapy trips.
- Work with other like minded nonprofits, businesses and individuals to ensure the Veteran gets the best experience possible.
The reason I chose Warfighter Made is simple. We have a lot of veterans in this country who fought for the freedoms that we often take for granted. Many of these men and women spend several years serving our country only to come back to us broken either from physical injuries or mental trauma.
These vehicles created for our veterans help them remain independent and do the things they enjoy doing. The other projects that Warfighter Made creates helps veterans maintain a sense of purpose and camaraderie that is often hard to find after coming back from war.
I am hoping to raise awareness to our veterans and this charity and to honor them by creating this event.
By choosing to participate you will help me bring awareness to our American Heroes. If you choose to donate the money will be used to help assist our veterans gain their independence by having a vehicle made specifically for them so that they can use to go where they please. It is the least we can do since they fought so hard for ours.
The current world record for most burpees in a minute by a female is 37 burpees. I ask that you would consider donating the world record breaking number of $38. To reach my goal I need 138 people to donate $38. I want to raise this money within the next 2 months, by April 10th, 2016.
I have already un-officially broken the World Record in my own garage and I am working diligently to meet all the requirements to achieve this record.
This campaign means a lot to me. After speaking with the founder, Rob , of the Warfighter Made charity, I knew this was the right charity. The volunteers there do NOT take a paycheck, and all except one are former veterans.
We are able to do so many things in this great country because of our veterans. We are able to speak our mind whether we are right or wrong. We have the freedom to drive where we want, and practice any religion that we choose. We can get an education, and to get any job we put our mind to.
However, freedom isn't free, and it came with a price. That price was paid to us by our veterans and their families.
I don't want to take that for granted, and the least we can do is honor them for their sacrifice.I will be thankful for every dollar that is donated, and every time this event is shared.
Even if you can't donate raising awareness is just as important. If all I do is just help you become more grateful for the freedoms you have, I did my job. We owe it to our veterans to pay them the respect they deserve.
