Join ACT-IAC's 45th Anniversary Charity Drive for VETSports
ACT-IAC is celebrating 45 years of driving government innovation and collaboration on August 26, 2024. As part of this fun-filled day of networking and camaraderie, our golf marshals have chosen a couple local charities to support through the event's fundraising efforts.
Founded in 2012, by three combat veterans, VETSports recognizes the importance of aiding Veterans in their reintegration into their communities after their combat tours. With a central commitment to tackling the veteran suicide rate through the therapeutic impact of sports, VETSports embraces a proactive approach to prevention.
The mission of VETSports is to enhance the lives of veterans and their families through sports, physical activity, and community engagement. The vision at VETSports is to create a thriving and supportive community where every veteran can find healing, camaraderie, and personal growth through sports and physical activity. The organization envisions a future where veterans are empowered to overcome physical and mental challenges, reclaim their lives, and thrive in all aspects of their well-being.
Why VETSports Matters?
- 22 is the average rate of suicide among veterans
- Over 4 million veterans have service-connected disabilities
- 22% of veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or major depression
Every veteran suicide is preventable. This is why VETSports uses the power of sports as a preventative action. VetSports help combat Veteran depression and isolation through sporting activities and service programs thus helping to reduce the Veteran suicide rate.
