Sheriff Reserve New Radios
The Van Buren County Reserve Division is a group of volunteers whose dedication and hard work have made the group an outstanding organization and a tremendous benefit to the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Van Buren County, Michigan. The group was formed in the year 2000 as a way to support Deputies with a second person in the car for patrol operations. Since that time, the group has transformed into a well-trained multifaceted organization that has undertaken many more responsibilities and duties.
The division is funded in part by departmental budgets, personal funds, and non-profit donations. The most challenging costs (and often the most critical) are the more expensive supply items.
This GoFundMe fundraiser is being created to raise enough money to supply the Van Buren County Sheriff's Reserve Division deputies with 20 new portable radios.
Since new radios are very expensive ($4-5000 ea), other less costly safety items are often selected for purchase (i.e. Reflective Traffic Vests/rain gear, Flashlights, Traffic lighted Batons, etc..) resulting in the older model radios being put into service.
After many years of service, these radios have limited life spans as well as unpredictable battery operational conditions. Reliable radio communications are critical to the safety of the division as well as the public we serve, it is our goal to permanently retire these older radios and supply newer, more reliable models to our Sheriff's Reserve Deputies.
Thank you for supporting our division as we continue serving the good citizens of Van Buren County Michigan
