August 2026 update: WE ARE GOING TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

We are happy to announce that USA Team Handball first-ever U16 team did qualify for the inaugural 2026 U16 IHF World Championships. We will compete there alongside 15 other qualified and invited National Teams from October 15-24 in Agadir, Morocco.

We are beyond excited to be preparing for this occasion, and especially proud of the hard work the athlete and staff put in during the qualifiers. Assistant Coach Wade Sutton states "Players and coaches meshed quickly and despite only having one practice ahead of the first game with Puerto Rico the team played well and developed some chemistry in record time".

Indeed, despite getting confirmation that the qualifying tournament would be held in Mexico City in late June, our team responded and assembled to play its first two official games against Puerto Rico and Mexico. After struggling near the end of the first half and start of the second half against Puerto Rico, our team found momentum and took the lead late in the game. A last second shot that would have won the game hit the post at the whistle, but the result of a tie gave us hope for the rest of the tournament. It was a great result while still learning players, positions and abilities.

The second game saw the team learn more about each other and many different players stepped up to have strong games but Mexico was a strong team and with their relentless pressure caused turnovers and capitalized on some easy goals. The team continued to fight and played hard throughout the match eventually losing by 12 goals. We had to wait and watch the result of the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico match and were overjoyed when Mexico won the game by 25 goals. This result helped the USA secure 2nd place and a place at World Championships in Morocco.

Head Coach Maged Elbahrawy shared his positive outlook on the competition: "My experience in Mexico City was very special. I was proud to work with this group of talented young athletes and to see their commitment to hard work, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the competition. I truly believe this team has the potential to achieve positive results at the World Championship, especially after the dedication, commitment, and strong team spirit they demonstrated during the tournament in Mexico. Representing the USA and competing at the international level was an incredible experience, and I’m very grateful to have been part of this journey".

As we gear up to select and announce our official U16 WNT roster for the competition, we turn once more to the amazing handball community in the US and beyond: we need your help sending the team to the World Championships! Any donation you are able to make, any share we can get for this fundraiser to reach potential supporters and donors will be immensely helpful. All proceeds will go towards getting the players and staff to Morocco for a training camp immediately prior to the competition.

This year, the U16 Women's National Team is making its international debut to compete for a spot for the U16 IHF World Championships! Help us send out team of young & determined athletes to their first-ever international competition!

After weeks of uncertainty, the U16 World Championships Qualifier for the North American and Caribbean region has finally been confirmed. We're headed to Mexico City on June 28th to battle for one of the two qualifying spots against the National Handball Teams of Mexico and Puerto Rico!

With a last-minute confirmation that the tournament is a go comes last-minute preparation for these athletes and their families. We need your help and generosity to alleviate the costs of such a trip. Funds collected with go towards supporting the roster and coaches' per diem at the competition, and towards reimbursing their travel, even if only partially.

A new cycle begins for our Junior Women’s Handball National Team, and these incredible young athletes need your help to keep their Olympic dreams alive.

Composed of dedicated players aged 16–19 from all over the world, this team represents the future of the sport. As full-time students, balancing elite training with financial demands is their biggest hurdle.

With the LA28 Olympics on the horizon, this is their moment to shine. Thanks to your incredible generosity during our last GoFundMe campaign, most of the costs for our previous historic run were covered. Because of you, this team successfully competed in the Pan American Games in Paraguay and the World Championships in China.

They also fought through intense qualifier tournaments in Mexico City and Montreal, following an elite preparation camp in Germany.

Now, we are resetting the clock for a brand-new cycle, and the journey starts today.

We are the Junior Women’s Handball National Team, a dedicated group of young athletes aged 15–20 from the USA and Europe. We've achieved an incredible milestone: qualifying for the 2026 U20 World Championships!

Our journey has been filled with challenges. Balancing intense training with school, work, and family commitments, we've proudly represented our team at the PanAm Games in Paraguay and competed in the qualifying tournament in Canada. Through unwavering dedication and teamwork, we've earned our place on the world stage.

Now, we face our biggest challenge yet: making it to the U20 IHF World championships in June 2026!

Unlike many national teams, we do not receive financial support from the government or federation. Each athlete is responsible for covering all expenses, including training, travel, accommodation, meals, and tournament fees. To turn our Worlds dream into reality, we need your support.

USA Team Handball is excited and honored to have qualified for the 2023 IHF Junior World Championship in Germany and Greece in June 2023. The qualification of Team USA and participation in a World Championship is a significant opportunity to showcase the sport of handball in the United States and abroad.

However, the burden of most of the cost to attend this tournament will be on the individual athletes and coaches. These costs are significant as they include increasingly expensive flight and travel costs as well as the daily fee for all participants during the tournament.

Funds raised here will directly support athletes and coaches in pursuing their dream of representing Team USA on the world stage.
