My name is Sylvia, and I work in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Every day I work with adolescent girls whose stories sit heavily in my heart. I meet girls carrying burdens far too big for their age, navigating hunger, trauma, uncertainty, and fear. For refugee girls who live without a parent or guardian, the odds seem impossibly stacked against them.
But there is also so much potential. The girls are resilient and determined to hope, laugh, and dream, even in the midst of unimaginable hardship. With just a little help to stay fed and in school, girls know they can become future leaders and changemakers in their communities. They already are.
Something as simple as access to sanitary pads can mean the difference between staying in school or falling behind. That’s why we started the Keep Girls Dreaming initiative. It helps girls access menstrual supplies as well as food assistance, school materials, and education. Our work reminds them they deserve safety, care, and a future full of possibility.
If you are able, please join me in helping keep girls safe, learning, and dreaming. A gift of $25 provides five girls with a year’s supply of sanitary pads. $50 helps feed a foster family for a month. $200 funds a community workshop that promotes girls’ dignity and value. No matter how much you give, each gift is an act of kindness with the potential to change a life.
Thank you!
Sylvia
