Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue

Rudy recently came int Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue as a young Great Dane abandoned and emaciated in Minnesota. He had been living in an outdoor pen at the shelter. Formerly known as Prince, the shelter told us how incredibly loving he is and simply craves attention. Our hearts hurt that he needs our help so badly.

With vet costs skyrocketing, the average cost per dog in our rescue has risen to $3,000 in 2023. That high cost is what forced us to freeze our intakes, but we couldn’t stand the idea of turning our backs on Rudy.

Rudy's story doesn't end with him coming into rescue. Rudy saw a vet today and tested positive for BOTH Lyme Disease and Anaplasmosis. This required immediate vet care including bloodwork, fluids and medication to the tune of $1,100. The vet is concerned enough with his current condition, that she is suggesting we consider hospitalization if he doesn't respond quickly to treatment.
