United Cajun Navy

In the wake of the catastrophic hurricane Ida, The Fisk Foundation is asking everyone to join in making a difference for those effected. The lower bayou parishes are "uninhabitable", 1 million people are without power, help from all over the country are sleeping in their vehicles to help in the relief efforts, and millions of people have lost many if not all of their personal belongings. Being a resident of southeast Louisiana during hurricane Katrina, my heart is simply broken for all of those effected. The process of recovering physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally from a catastrophic event like this is indescribable. With that being said, we are raising money to benefit United Cajun Navy, and any donation will help make an impact. Any funds raised will go directly to the Cajun Navy to help with their relief efforts. The Cajun Navy is ALWAYS one of the first to respond and most widespread outreach of people that come together to help in relief efforts for events like Ida.

The Fisk Foundation is located in Slidell, LA

4 years ago…..our community, Shadow Glen and other subdivisions in Riverstone, were struck by Hurricane Harvey.

Some of us lost our homes, some of us lost our belongings, some of us were displaced for an extended period of time and some of were lucky to be alive and eager to help each other.

4 years ago..... a group of guys also descended on our neighborhood with their boats, supplies, and rescue gear – they were here to help us. We learned subsequently about the great philanthropic efforts of the Cajun Navy. They were wonderful, wore smiles and brought with them hope and humanity.

Riverstone was strong and many strangers came together to help us rebuild our community. The fact that there are others who have selflessly sacrificed their time, resources, and expertise to rebuild our community gave us enormous strength to be where we are today.

Now…… Louisiana is hit by one of the worst hurricanes in a century and this follows three others that hit LA last year. This could have easily been us if the trajectory of the storm moved slightly west.

It is time for us to rise and show that we as Riverstone are strong and not only care about our community but pay it forward to the cause of helping folks trying to standup and build back their communities. Paying forward is the best way to show our gratitude and love to all the folks who are in the same shoes as us four years ago.

Here at Veriforce, our main goal is to bring workers home safe. We are raising money to benefit the United Cajun Navy, who are now actively involved in the search for those loved ones still missing from the Seacor Lift Boat Tragedy.

If you are not aware of this incident, here is an overview.  A commercial lift vessel, the “Seacor Power” used to transport workers to oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico capsized on Tuesday, April 13 as it left Port Fourchon with a crew of 19.   Six crewman were saved that day.   Since then, no one has been found alive though search efforts continue, even after the Coast Guard called off their search on Monday, April 19.  The weather was extremely severe on the day the Seacor capsized however the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Any donations will help with the impact to supply them with fuel costs for any boats and planes the United Cajun Navy utilizes. All proceeds will be donated to the efforts surrounding this tragedy. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
