Meet June Bug. FINALLY FREE!

One week with Junior aka June Bug and I’m exhausted He climbs fences, is starving, pulls on the leash real hard and barks endlessly in his crate. He’s quite a handful. This poor dog was chained, padlocked, starved & dehydrated. So I had to get him out of that situation. Photos are a progression of events. Now here with us as u can see. I paid for an interstate transporter to get him here to Fl. We left him with an emergency vet here in FL, where he stayed for about 8 hours in intensive care which cost $48/hr. I hurried up and turned back around & got him once I knew he was not contagious except through blood so as not to infect our other dogs . He is heartworm +. The vet has him on a regular wormer too just to make sure since most likely he has intestinal parasites as well. His gut when X-ray’ed showed it was full of sand, what he was eating to feel full! What kind of people do this to an animal!

He has around $4,000 in vetwork and $525 for shipping so far. He sees the regular vet 2/18 to look him over farther, which will be another charge. I will attach the bills thus far. Give what you can please. THANK YOU in advance! Print a receipt for your taxes if you require.

MISSION STATEMENT and…The Birth of our not-for-profit:

26 years of rescuing pets and paying out of our own pocket for pet food/care has taken its toll on us!

To provide premium food, safe shelter, professional training and veterinary medical care for all the animals we rescue. No corners are cut like traditional rescues and no animal is treated any differently than if it were our own family pet. No animal is euthanized unless it is hopeless. We put our heart and soul into this. It is our life.

This one recent dog made me see the light. I have done all the paperwork & am up & running. Read Flora’s story and consider helping us however you can.

FLORAS STORY(Our First Success is Underway)

She comes to me from Miami after this harrowing event. She has been here a 5 months now and is getting everything a beloved family pet would get. You could see her ribs in an extreme way before and 8 cups of kibble a day she is starting to fill out and you have to squint to even notice. These undoings of cruelty take time. This beast of a dog that requires a lot of high quality food to survive. Plus veterinarian expenses for routine spaying and annual vaccinations of course all of which have been completed. Her spirit was broken & dim. She has come around quite a bit. At first she would not even use the dog bed provided and she is now using it. I train her daily to just scratch the surface of basic obedience. All she knew was sit and down which was very sad to me. She was nothing more than a puppy machine before. There was evidence of this when the veterinarian spayed her.

Now we’re going to be heading past the $3,000 mark for one rescued dog and climbing. The larger the animal the larger the bills respectively in general. Details of FLORA’s Rescue.

This weekend was one for the books. Early Saturday morning, while we were outside, Maya, my 3-year-old, spotted something in the water. We looked closer and saw a Rottweiler struggling to stay afloat in the lake behind our house.

With the help of a neighbor, we managed to get her out safely. She was thin, scared, and looked like she had recently had puppies. We took her in for the night, and she was just the sweetest, most gentle dog.

Thanks to everyone who spread the word, we found her an incredible new home—a farm with four other dogs, lots of cats, and three horses. Mica, my 8-year-old, joined me on the 2-hour drive to drop her off. It was an emotional moment for both of us, but we knew Flora (the name Mica and the neighbors chose) would be so happy in her new home.

This experience reminded us of the kindness in our community and how a small act of compassion can change a life.

2 months ago chained up and starving, this smart boy is doing daily training with me and has mastered sit, go to bed (aka lay down), stay on both and shake paw. He is getting treatment for heart-worm disease which is a challenge to keep him calm during. Still 2 more shots to go mid April. Funds are needed for this treatment & then vaccination and neutering. Then another 6 weeks of keeping him calm during the heart worm’s shedding. It’s so sad when pets are left uncared for like this. He is afraid of tennis balls and doesn’t show interest in any toys. This tells you how little attention he must have had. You can see the appreciation in his eyes for the attention he is getting now. It is quite a challenge for rescuers. All these issues neglected animals are left with combined make it all the more difficult to re-home them. So much time, love and money go into getting this all accomplished.
