Triangle Youth Music

The Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble (TYJE) hopes to continue with their success at the 2016 Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Competition with trips to the 2017 Swing Central Jazz Festival and Competition in Savannah, GA, in March and the 2017 Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival in May.  TYJE, led by Gregg Gelb, is the top of four jazz big bands sponsored by the non-profit, Philharmonic Association, Inc. and was the Silver Medalist in NYC in 2016. For Swing Central's three-day workshop and competition, TYJE was chosen with 11  other bands from across the country to participate. Out of a field of around 100, they are one of 15 bands nationwide to go to the three-day competition and festival in NYC. Participants work with some of the nation's top  jazz educators and performers. Help support these young musician's travel expenses to these two events where they will immerse themselves in the world of jazz with professionals and their peers.
