LGBTQ chorus unable to access funds
In the spring of 2023, the Triangle Gay Men's Chorus (TGMC) held multiple concerts for the community celebrating the work of recently departed composer Stephen Sondheim. We selected Brown Paper Tickets as our ticketing partner after using them successfully in the past.
However, after holding concerts in both May and June of 2023 we still have not seen any funds from our sold tickets as of August 2023. All funds continue to be held by Brown Paper Tickets. They do not return our emails and have shut down their phone support lines. Online research shows that they owe millions to many organizations like ourselves and we are not alone in being ghosted by them.
After consulting with an attorney we were advised that it would be too expensive to pursue legal action against them, and would still likely not guarantee that we'd see our funds.
As we prepare to begin another season we are faced with a cash shortage that makes it difficult to support ourselves and continue our mission. We need support to help us purchase music, pay our musical director and accompanist, and afford our other administrative tools.
Please consider donating to help us recoup funds lost from our spring concerts. And please come hear us at an upcoming concert in November, too!
