Trails End provides every animal in our care with proper veterinarian attention. Vaccines, de-worming, flea and tick prevention, spay and neuter are standard. Yet many animals that come into our rescue have great needs to to neglect and abuse. We never turn away a dog who needs immediate, emergency care or ongoing treatment. Your donations help us with our goal to treat every dog with love, care and dignity.

In addition to the adult dogs we currently have in rescue, this past week we took in 3 elderly dogs with serious helath issues & 7 puppies, maybe 5 weeks old, left in a ditch.

They are very sick & will require special care.

Our mission is to collaborate with local municipalities and community groups to find homes for abandoned and neglected pets, reducing overcrowding in shelters. As a foster-based rescue, we provide shelter, food, medical care (including microchipping and spay/neuter services), and most importantly, love for the animals in our care.

We work with the community to create a network of rescues, foster homes, volunteers, businesses, and veterinary practices to offer alternatives to overcrowded shelters and unnecessary euthanasia. We also aim to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and provide access to affordable spay/neuter programs.

We have no employees, yet our small, volunteer-run rescue, located in New Braunfels, rescues dogs from Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, and Bexar Counties. In 2024, we’re on track to rescue and rehome over 120 dogs and puppies, plus a few rabbits, pigs, ducks, and tortoises. We couldn’t do this without the support of our community.

Your donation goes directly to providing food, medical care, shelter, and love for the animals in our care. We are a 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.

Did you know animals currently only have 24 hours to find a home after entering an animal shelter before they are euthanized?

Trail's End Animal Rescue, founded by the passionate animal lovers Pete and Kerrie, started as a heartfelt mission in their home to save dogs in desperate need. Now, it has blossomed into a sanctuary for dogs that would otherwise face euthanasia due to overcapacity in Texas, especially in Hays County. With shelters across the state at record-high capacities, the need for space and resources has never been more urgent.

Driven by their unwavering commitment to animals, Pete and Kerrie work tirelessly to provide each dog with a safe, comfortable space where they can grow, heal, and wait for their forever homes. To continue rescuing and providing safe, loving care for more dogs, we’re raising funds to renovate an existing barn into a sanctuary space specifically for puppies and install additional fencing to keep all their dogs secure and happy. This renovation will allow for Trail’s End to care for more dogs in a nurturing environment, giving each one a better chance at finding a forever home.

Currently, their rescue is bursting at the seams, and the overcrowded conditions make it challenging to take in new animals. The barn renovation is essential to support the puppies they rescue, ensuring they have a space to grow, play, and thrive. Expanding the fencing around the sanctuary will also improve their safety and well-being, allowing them the freedom to play and socialize in a secure area.

Pete and Kerrie have poured their hearts into this rescue, which began in their home and has now grown into a vital resource for our community’s vulnerable dogs. What began with 8 dogs has now grown into a full-scale rescue, housing 27 dogs and operating at 250% capacity due to overwhelming demand. They have tirelessly worked to expand and improve the rescue, and with your help, we can take it to the next level, ensuring no dog is left without hope.

This sweet girl was brought to Trail's End from a local municipal shelter yesterday, hours before she was to be euthanized. We've named her Hope.

She is the most emaciated dog we have ever seen who is still alive. We are keeping her warm and safe and hand feeding her at the moment. She is too weak to eat on her own. Despite all this, she is sweet and loving and trusting. We are taking her to the vet today. Will you help us care for Hope?
