I'm Damia, the founder of Happy Hugs, a clothing brand inspired by my journey with Tic Disorder, which I was diagnosed with as a child. Tics are sudden, involuntary movements and sounds. Mine include rapid blinking, nose scrunching, head shaking, and grunting.
Thankfully, as a junior in high school, my tics have become almost unnoticeable with treatment and much love and patience from my family. However, I know how much this disorder can impact confidence, mental health, and physical well-being, and I've often wished for greater understanding of it.
That said, I'm passionate about supporting the Tourette Association of America Inc in Western Pennsylvania. This incredible organization works tirelessly to provide education, resources, and community for individuals and families affected by Tourette syndrome.
