My Story: Why I’m Building Onalaska’s First Community Center

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

My name is Lakeda Sullivan, and I am the CEO of Touched By One, Touched By All, a nonprofit established in 2021 to serve families and military service members. Our mission has always been about creating strong, supportive environments where children and families can thrive.

Here in Onalaska, WA, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles families face in rural communities. Safe, reliable spaces for kids to learn, grow, and connect are limited, and our school-age children—especially those ages 4 and up—don’t have access to consistent after-school programs, mentorship, or safe gathering places. Families, including our military families and foster families, deserve better.

That’s why, on behalf of our nonprofit, I am leading the effort to build Onalaska’s first Community Center—a safe, welcoming hub that will serve 25–50 children daily, offer after-school enrichment, and provide a haven for youth and families in our area.

Why This Matters

As someone who has spent my life caring for children and supporting families, I know the power of community. Growing up, I learned that it takes a village to raise a child—and that village can make all the difference between struggle and success. Now, I want to bring that same spirit of care and resilience to Onalaska.

This Community Center will be more than just a building. It will be a place where:

✅ Our rural community comes together to ensure no child is left behind.
