Over 5 years after I shaved my head for charity I am doing it again! I will be raising money for the same charity TinyLife. TinyLife is the premature baby charity for Northern Ireland. Every day in NI 6 babies are born too soon, some arriving as early as 24 weeks, weighing as little as 1lb!

As November is Prematurity Awareness Month and I am lucky enough to be uncle to two amazing nephews that were born prematurely, there couldn't be a better time to do it. I also REALLY need a hair cut!

This time, after over two years of growth I will also be cutting my hair before the shave to donate to the Little Princess Trust, an organisation that provides free wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer or other conditions. Any donations small or big are welcomed!

As a mother of five beautiful children, I cherish each moment with my family. However, I also carry the memory of my first daughter, Amy, who was stillborn. As we approach what would have been her 21st birthday, I want to honor her memory in a meaningful way. This year, I have decided to undertake a skydive, symbolically flying high with my little girl on her special day.

I am seeking support to raise funds for Tiny Life, a wonderful charity that assists families affected by premature birth and loss. Any contributions or encouragement would be immensely appreciated. While this challenge may be daunting, I am filled with anticipation for the opportunity to celebrate Amy's heavenly birthday in the sky. During my pregnancy I had a really bad time with hypertension and Jese had stopped growing and had reduced movement. After many talks and heavy monitoring and the fact that Jese wasn’t coping well we decided there and then to deliver. Jese was born at 35 weeks measuring just over 4lbs via emergency section. Unfortunately a few minutes after delivery Jese struggled with his breathing and out whirlwind of experience behind the doors of neonatal began.

During our time in the nicu we were introduced to tinylife and through the help of this amazing charity I was able to get help to bond with my baby through lend of a medical standard breast pump and introduced to families who have all experienced life in the nicu! We regularly attend tinylife meet ups and have had so much love and support. I would love to give back to such a worthy charity and help other families be able to continue accessing the valuable support. If you can donate anything I would be so unbelievably grateful.

Myself and Lizzie Caldwell have taken it upon ourselves to put one of Rosemary Cochrane's final wishes into action. Before she became unwell Rosemary mentioned how she'd wanted to organise a fundraiser for TinyLife, to celebrate Sean's first birthday - in aid of the support they provided to him and their whole family last summer and beyond.

TinyLife is Northern Ireland’s premature and vulnerable baby charity. They are dedicated to reducing premature birth, illness, disability and death in the six babies born every day in Northern Ireland. They are committed to providing a range of support services that meet the growing needs of families of premature babies locally. Their work supports vital research to ensure every pregnancy has the best chance of a healthy outcome and a healthy baby.

Little Sean is a testament to their incredible work.

Every day, six babies are born prematurely or face serious health challenges, in Northern Ireland alone. Tragically, not all of them survive. The journey for these families is filled with uncertainty, heartbreak, and hope—but together, we can make a difference.

Premature birth is a global issue, affecting an estimated 13.4 million babies each year. Sadly, complications from preterm birth remain the leading cause of death among children under five, with 900,000 lives lost in 2019 alone. But there is hope—three-quarters of these deaths could be prevented with cost-effective medical interventions and better support for families.

This cause is especially close to my heart. I have friends and family who have experienced the devastating loss of their baby, and I’ve seen firsthand the heartbreak it brings. No parent should have to endure such pain. That’s why I’m fundraising for a charity dedicated to giving every baby the best possible start in life. Through essential support services, life-changing research, and advocacy, this organization is working tirelessly to reduce premature birth, illness, disability, and loss. Their work ensures that families receive the care they need, and that medical advancements continue to improve outcomes for tiny fighters everywhere.
