The Young Center for Immigrant Childrens Rights

In loving memory of our mother, wife, sister, friend, daughter, and grandmother, Teresa Maldonado. Teresa lost her battle against Covid on April 20th 2021. Although not physically here, her spirit, endurance, optimism, laughter, and love continues in every part of this world.

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights promotes the best interests of unaccompanied children who are fleeing violence, trafficking, abuse, and extreme poverty. Thank you for your contribution.

I’m Alicia Delgadillo, a professional dancer formerly with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. I have been searching for new ways to honor my Nicaraguan heritage while supporting a cause that needs our attention. The Young Center  is currently serving children taken into custody remotely as needed by the staff, attorneys, and social workers from all 8 regional offices via video-teleconferenced meetings and court dates. Donations will go directly to  the Child Advocate program, which supports this work wherever the children they serve are located.  


Classes are free and open to all levels and ages. We’re offering a suggested donation sliding scale.  Please pay what you can and consider donating even if you do not wish to participate in a class. Options include:

Weekend passes $80-$125/full weekend
Day passes $45-$60/day
Class passes $3-$25/class

Teaching artist credits include So You Think You Can Dance, Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, On Your Feet 1st National Tour, New York City Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, Limon Dance Company, The Guthrie Theater and more!

The number of unaccompanied immigrant children in detention has risen to unprecedented heights. Nearly 15,000 unaccompanied minors were in detention as of December 2018, roughly double the number of children who were in custody just one year prior. Many unaccompanied children face lengthy detention without support or representation. 

Motivated by a need to take meaningful action to address this situation, Concentric Sky is launching a fundraiser to support the work of The Young Center. 

The Young Center serves as the federally-appointed best interests guardian ad litem (Child Advocate) for vulnerable unaccompanied children in government custody as authorized by the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA). It is a national program and serves hundreds of children in eight locations across the United States every year. Young Center independent Child Advocates accompany children in federal custody and advocate for their safe placement, release to family, appropriate treatment and services in custody, and a permanent outcome that is in their best interests.  

Concentric Sky will match up to $10,000 in donations to the Young Center - and we call upon our friends and colleagues to do the same.
