The Rob Lawton Art & Design Gallery
Rob Lawton is the first educator to be inducted into one of advertising's most prestigious honors: The One Club Hall of Fame. The honor was in recognition of the positive effect Rob had on the advertising industry over the last 40 years. Rob's education career began at Texas A&M University-Commerce in the '70s. Rob had already been nationally recognized for his work in advertising and design. He brought that same high-caliber work to his teaching.
There is overwhelming respect and affection for Rob by his former students. His ability to transform young people into industry leaders is unparalleled. If you are one of those lives, you now have the opportunity to join A&M-Commerce alumni and friends in recognizing Rob's legacy by naming the school's existing gallery, The Rob Lawton Art & Design Gallery. The gallery is a part of the university's Visual Communications' program, located at Universities Center at Dallas, 1910 Pacific Place, Dallas, Texas. This effort will also assist the students of the advertising and design program that Rob groomed into the best in education.
Rob taught thousands of students. If each offers a small donation to The Rob Lawton Art & Design Gallery Fund, advertising and design students will benefit year after year. The funds raised for The Rob Lawton Art & Design Gallery will benefit A&M-Commerce students providing opportunities to travel, participate in design competitions, and support scholarship opportunities for students that portray excellence in his or her work. The funds are restricted for these two purposes.
This year, A&M-Commerce awarded Rob an honorary doctorate to recognize his contributions to the careers of so many who attended the school. As former students, we believe Rob's influence on our industry and his legacy at A&M-Commerce should be more permanently recognized.
Please give your generous support as a gesture of appreciation to Rob. As a supporter, your name will be inscribed on a plaque at the entry of the gallery. Gifts ranging from $100-$1000 are encouraged from individuals. In addition, to ensure we reach our goal, we ask advertising agencies and capable individuals to consider gifts between $5,000-$10,000. Whether you are a past student of Rob's or not, we welcome your support in naming The Rob Lawton Art & Design Gallery.
