Hello, we are fund raising money for Marco and the TBCD community.

Marco is turning 2 years old April 19, and we are more than excited to continue seeing him grow at his own pace. He is a strong, happy and smart toddler. He loves musical and light up toys. He loves his four year old sister, as soon as he hears her voice he smiles and laughs. Marco has his own way of communicating with us, when he is tired, hungry, uncomfortable and of course happy and excited. He is capable of eating and taking his medicine orally. He takes the medication Keppra daily and it has his seizure controlled.

Some of the things that this disorder have affect my baby with are developmental delay, impaired vision with optic atrophy, his optic nerve is also damage. Hypotonia which is low muscle tone, he can’t sit on his own yet. He has microcephaly, smaller head size and small brain with a damaged corpus callosum, what connects the 2 parts of our brain. Overall just a low immune system, winter is our worst enemy.

His TBCD disorder was diagnosed at 5 months of age, discovered by a genetics test because he started getting seizures at 4 months. With time we have learned that this disorder is an orphan disorder because only 40 children in the world have it and not many doctors are willing to work to find a cure for our babies. This is the main reason why our TBCD continues to raise money day by day.

The worse part of this disorder is that the give our babies a lifespan of 3-5 years of age because it’s a deteriorating disorder. But that is NOT our belief, our baby proves doctors wrong day by day. With our faith and God we know that anything is possible.

Marco cumplirá 2 años el 19 de abril y estamos más que emocionados de seguir viéndolo crecer a su propio ritmo. Es un niño fuerte, feliz e inteligente. Le encantan los juguetes musicales y con luces. Ama a su hermana de cuatro años, tan pronto como escucha su voz sonríe y ríe. Marco tiene su propia manera de comunicarse con nosotros, cuando está cansado, hambriento, incómodo y por supuesto feliz y emocionado. Es capaz de comer y tomar sus medicamentos por vía oral. Toma el medicamento Keppra a diario y sus convulsiones están controladas.

Algunas de las cosas que este desorden ha afectado a mi bebé son retraso en el desarrollo, problemas de visión con atrofia óptica y daño al nervio óptico. Hipotonía, que es un tono muscular bajo, todavía no puede sentarse solo. Tiene microcefalia, cabeza más pequeña y cerebro pequeño con el cuerpo calloso dañado, lo que conecta las 2 partes de nuestro cerebro. Su sistema inmunológico está muy bajo y el invierno es nuestro peor enemigo.

Su desorden TBCD fue diagnosticado a los 5 meses de edad, descubierto mediante una prueba genética porque comenzó a tener convulsiones a los 4 meses. Con el tiempo hemos aprendido que es un desorden huérfano porque sólo 40 niños en el mundo lo padecen y no muchos médicos están dispuestos a trabajar para encontrar una cura para nuestros bebés. Esta es la razón principal por la que nuestra comunidad de TBCD continúa recaudando dinero día a día.

La peor parte de este desorden es que les da a nuestros bebés una vida útil de 3 a 5 años. Pero esa NO es nuestra creencia, nuestro bebé demuestra que los médicos se equivocan día a día. Con nuestra fe y Dios sabemos que todo es posible.
