About Empower Baseball
Empower Baseball is a youth development and education nonprofit that protects Dominican boys from the predatory baseball pipeline by keeping them in school and giving them a real future. In the Dominican Republic, baseball isn’t a game — it’s the only way families think they can escape poverty. The problem is, boys drop out of school at 12 or 13 to train full-time. Buscones sign them, MLB scouts look for bargains, and only 2% ever make it. The other 98%? They’re left behind with no education, no diploma, and no path forward That’s where we step in. Empower Baseball gives boys a safe baseball program that protects them from the predatory side of the system. To play with us, they must stay in school, maintain their grades, and learn life skills. We use baseball to break the cycle of poverty
