The Shriners Hospital for Children

We are proud to call ourselves Hornets, athletes from Harriet Eddy Cross Country Team. Our group of 7th and 8th grade runners have enjoyed a season of fitness and competition. Most importantly, we have enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with being on a team, and we have made it a mission to give back to our community this year.

We have chosen to support Shriners Hospital and its effort to enrich the lives of children in need. They bring hope and healing to children and their families as they navigate the complex challenges of specialty healthcare. By supporting Shriners, we support our community.

On Tuesday, Oct 22nd, we will do our daily three-mile workout. To mark our fundraising effort, we will each wear a unique, handmade cape to symbolize the heroic effort of Shriners and the work we'll do to help. Our workout will keep the capes off our back as we run the streets of Elk Grove as a proud team, working to better the community we call home.

See that picture? It's me! I wanted to make my mitzvah project about dancing, which is my passion. In the end, I made the decision to fundraise for the Shriners Children's Hospital, with a focus on their studies regarding spinal cord and other injuries. This connects to my love of dancing because I want to support children who aren't able to move their bodies the way I do. Maybe I can even assist them pursue their own passions that they might not otherwise be able to, because of their disabilities. Please help me raise money for this very worthy cause and help some children improve their quality of life!
