We’re designing the new San Miguel Playhouse as not only an ideal theatrical space, but also an ideal chamber music recital hall, with pristine acoustics. Recently, we came across an excellent Steinway grand for sale, and the seller has offered us a below-market price of $14,000. Through private donations and this GoFundMe, we are only about $1500 shy of our goal, and if we can raise the rest by June 1, the piano is ours.

The policy change at Bellas Artes, restricting use of the Miguel Malo auditorium, forced the suspension of the Steinway Series, benefit concerts for Libros para Todos. Meanwhile, the apparent dissolution, after 45 years, of the San Miguel Chamber Music Festival, was a cultural blow to the city. Our plan is to reinstitute the Steinway Series at the new Playhouse, and to have high-quality chamber music year round. The piano is essential.
