Hello, I'm Matt, a 31 year old USMC Veteran from the greater Chicagoland-area. Although I've had many different titles in my life, Husband and Father are the ones most important to me. My Wife and Sons truly are the forces that have saved my life time and time again.

I had the honor of serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Machine Gunner. Although my time was cut short due to the development of mental health issues, I still hold this title very close to my identity. During my time in the military, I faced challenges that have left a lasting impact on my mental health. I have been formally diagnosed by the VA with General Anxiety Disorder, and Chronic-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, conditions that have made it difficult for me to navigate everyday life. However, I have found a beacon of hope and healing through The Malinois Foundation and in the form of a Service Dog.

The Malinois Foundation is an organization that helps not only Veterans, but women survivors as well, and even children with special needs to purchase and train a service dog to suit their individual needs. I would be honored if you found yourself able to donate to my cause. Any money donated will go directly to The Malinois Foundation to help fund the purchase of my service dog, and go towards its extensive training program. This type of training is very labor intensive, and can get very expensive, that's where the foundation helps by partnering with local dog trainers and following a training program that is custom to an individual's needs.

Any contribution whether big or small, can make a substantial impact on my journey. Even by just sharing this fundraiser, you can help more than you may realize. Service dogs are useful to so many for so many different mental and/or physical ailments. Please join me in making a difference by helping The Malinois Foundation to continue to place service dogs ‍with those who need this invaluable assistance: Veteran’s with PTSD and women survivors- as well as others needing assistance for both physical and/or mental illnesses. I'm raising money to benefit The Malinois Foundation, and any donation will help make an impact.

My Fundraising efforts: In order for the foundation to be able to continue their mission and provide this vital medical assistance to those who desperately need it, and to continue to grow and provide more help across the country, they ask those whose application was approved for placement of a dog, for some assistance in helping to raising awareness about them and spreading their mission, and to join in the effort in raising vital funds to continue providing this service. Through our efforts, we hope to educate communities to the importance and effectiveness of service animals.

More information on my personal involvement - I have been suffering many chronic illnesses for a while. I have suffered many falls and stairs are no longer safe. I have had falls and been stuck with no help. Snow and ice is far too dangerous for me to navigate on my own. A service dog would be immensely helpful for me and provide me with the ability to gain back some independence and take care of daily tasks safely. I have been selected and approved through the foundation to have a service dog placed with me for my medical needs- once the right dog is found. In the mean time, I am helping raise money for the Foundation as I attempt to pay it forward, and, also, in order to assist in funding for the life of the dog . The cost are high, but the benefits are so much higher!
