Lupine Community School has grown this past year; from purchasing our new farm location, expanding our grade levels served, and adding new highly-qualified staff. Now, as we begin the next phase of our expansion, we need support from you, our community.
Since the 2024-2025 school year we have:
- Purchased and customized a 7+ acre farm in a centralized location in Orange County, North Carolina
- Became a North Carolina state recognized Bona Fide Farm
- Expanded to serve preschool through second grade with a continued plan to add more grades in the 2026-2027 school year and beyond
- Increased the number of new families served by over 50%
- Employed 3 new staff members that are passionate about student-centered, nature-based education and nurturing the new stewards of our community
- Continued to guide our students with differing learning styles in an inclusive environment through individualized place-based and project-based education
- Adopted over 10 animals including pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, chickens, and rabbits from a local sanctuary to serve as humane farm education ambassadors
In the new year, we plan to introduce additional programming to meet the needs of our community while simultaneously off-setting the cost of operating such a unique school. These camps, events, and hands-on activities will allow us to be an integral part of our local community, reaching far beyond our immediate school family.
With our continued growth, we are also experiencing the financial pressure that comes with growing: rising and unforeseen costs and construction delays. To complete our expansion and move to our new location we received donations totaling nearly $850,000 but we also took on $650,000 in loans to ensure that we were able to continue to serve, without interruption, our community and nurture the next stewards of the North Carolina triangle region.
However, we are focused on aggressively paying down the principal on these loans in order to:
- Decrease our operating deficit
- Continue to expand our services and programming for our students and community
- Keep tuition low
- Award scholarships to ensure our school is accessible to students of various backgrounds and abilities
With your essential support, we can continue our mission of bringing nature-based education and compassion to the North Carolina triangle region and better serve our students and you, our community.
