We are asking you to support our efforts to protect critically endangered East Pacific Leatherback Turtles. The Covid-19 pandemic and its implications have greatly impacted our conservation efforts in Costa Rica. We are doing our best to maintain our services at Las Baulas National Marine Park and in Playa Cabuyal for the protection of leatherback, green and olive ridley turtles with greatly reduced resources and very few volunteers. Despite all difficulties, we carry out our research and outreach programs and make sure we maintain critical hygiene protocols to protect our staff from Covid-19.

To continue to save the turtles we need financial support so that we can pay our staff in Costa Rica and help the local communities who are helping to save the turtles.

More information about The Leatherback Trust: The Leatherback Trust is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving the leatherback sea turtle. Our mission is to promote the conservation of leatherbacks and other turtles at risk of extinction by running conservation projects at important nesting sites for the species and tackling major threats to their survival such as incidental capture in fishing gear, impact of climate change and marine debris pollution.

HELP US SAVE THE SEA TURTLES!

Haddonfield Memorial High School has partnered with the The Leatherback Trust in Costa Rica to help protect leatherback sea turtles. As part of their conservation efforts, the Trust maintains a hatchery within Las Baulus National Park to increase the hatching of eggs and the survival of hatchlings. Maintance, research and staffing of the hatchery requires funding which we are looking to provide for the 2019/2020 season. To support the Leatherback Trust program, students of the Haddonfield Memorial High School Environmental Science program are looking to raise at least $2,000 to support this project.

Students from Haddonfield have visited the Trust in Costa Rica, graduates have interned as environmental science majors, and the Leatherback Trust has been a conservation partner of the High School for over a decade. With your help, we can raise enough money to continue this program and make way for the tiny turtles to safely reach the ocean.
