The Laurel Center Intervention for Domestic and Sexual Violence

Adam Carter was always a helper. That quality cost him his life July 8th, 2019 when he tried to help in a domestic violence situation. The Adam Carter Memorial Golf Tournament celebrates Adam's life and continues his calling to support those in need around us. All proceeds from the tournament and donations to this page will go directly to The Laurel Center in Winchester, VA.

Unfortunately, domestic violence tragedies happen quite often in our country. Thankfully we have organizations such as The Laurel Center that are in the community to help support those that are in abusive relationships, 

Today should not be a day of mourning, but a day of celebration. Adam would have wanted us to celebrate his life and help prevent other situations like this from happening. So enjoy a day of golf, socializing, and happiness. And if you’re not a golfer, or unable to attend—please make a donation so that we can all continue to try and make this world a safer and better place to live.

Founded in 1983, The Laurel Center Intervention for Domestic and Sexual Violence provides emergency shelter and outreach services to survivors of domestic and sexual assault at no charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Our philosophy is empowerment through support and education. We believe everyone has the right to live without violence or fear of violence. The Laurel Center is the only agency providing these services in our regional community of Winchester City and Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties.

Our services include adult therapy and psychoeducational counseling, support and therapy for children who have experienced family violence, court advocacy, housing assistance, community outreach and educational programming. All of our programs serve over 5,000 women, children and men every year.
