Historic House Museum recovers from storm damage
On Sunday, August 4th, the Hunter House Victorian Museum suffered damage as a result of a severe thunderstorm. Our beloved old oak tree in our side garden was struck by lightning and fell on the side of the house and roof. The entire tree needs to be removed, the tree ground up into pieces, and then placed as mulch in our garden. We are awaiting reports to see if work will also need to be done on our roof.
We were hopeful that our insurance would cover the costs of the removal, but it will only partially over the removal of the limbs and also requires us meeting a large deductible.
Friends, we are asking for your support. We would like to raise funds to offset the cost of this project. The museum is part of the Hunter Foundation, an entity which oversees the running of the facility as a result of the will of the last family member, Eloise Hunter, and her desire to see her family home used as a museum celebrating Victorian life, art, and architecture.
