Please help keep the Sisters dry!

The Holy Name of Jesus Academy saw its humble beginnings just over ten years ago in Massena, New York. Headed by Dominican teaching sisters, the Academy works to fulfill her mission in educating young girls from all over the United States, four foreign countries, and from all levels of society. Veritas, Truth, is her motto, and her goal is to form the young Catholic girls of today into the strong Catholic women of tomorrow. These ten years have seen an incredible transformation of an old abandoned public-school building, which has been revived and renovated little by little to accommodate the many demands of a boarding school, the needs of the students, and the work of the sisters.
However, the roof of their home and school has seen its final days. Despite efforts to repair the rubber roof, leaks have been a source of worry for years now. Last spring, architectural plans were drawn up, and in November the new pitched roof began to materialize. Little did the Sisters know at that time the exceptional weather that would strike them at every turn!
First, the snow came early and then melted just as the ballast and vents were removed; what were once leaks turned into floods pouring from the ceilings. The first phase of the roofing project has now stretched into four months hindered by snow, rain and ice. The second phase was to be a project for the future; however, the storms that swept through during Easter week, bringing wind gusts up to 60 mph, damaged the north wing roof and made the second phase of work a pressing and unforeseen necessity.
