The Good Karma Los Angeles Org

The Good Karma Los Angeles Org is a nonprofit focused on cooking nourishing plant-based meals and serving them to the underprivileged and unhoused communities of Los Angeles & San Francisco (and soon coming Orange County!). Over the years, Good Karma has distributed over 130,000 hot meals and water bottles, snacks, fresh fruits, hydration packets, hygiene kits, hand sanitizer bottles, along with socks, shoes, beanies, scarves, rain ponchos, gloves, toys, books, walkers, wheelchairs, tents, blankets, tarps, dog & cat food, and much, much more!

The organization started at the beginning of the pandemic, when founder Vishal Narayan decided to distribute food on his own on Skid Row. From that, he has grown his mission beyond food distribution services. Good Karma does a trash pickup service in Los Angeles (SF & OC trash picking soon-to-come!). There is currently a Loving Library (for kids to have easy access to books & learning materials), a community fridge, and two Covid-19 vaccination clinics.

We now need help raising 5k for a 90-day Grant Readiness program. This will help us expand the org so we can support even more people with an increase of foods, goods, and services!

Founded in 2020, The Good Karma LA has been a beacon of support for the Los Angeles community, mobilizing volunteers and resources to provide direct support to the homeless and those rebuilding their lives. In the wake of the devastating January 2025 wildfires, our mission has never been more critical.

In the last 4.5 years, TGKLA has: Served over 130,000 meals and distributed 130,000 water bottles to Skid Row, while expanding our impact with a San Francisco Chapter that has distributed 12,000 meals and 12,000 water bottles.

Hosted 5 Back-to-School Supply Drives, 6 Toy Drives, and 5 Winter Warm-Up Drives, delivering thousands of essential items and winter apparel to families in need.

Installed a Community Fridge at 5th Street & San Pedro and launched a Community Bookshelf to increase access to fresh food and promote literacy.

Provided free Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in partnership with The Joy of Sharing Foundation, Pico Pharmacy, and USC.

Introduced the TrailblazHERS Women Empowerment Program and hosted the Priya Means Love Walk, raising over $7,000 for mental health and cancer awareness.

Donated solar and propane generators to provide power for lights, heaters, and phone charging in unhoused communities.

Quickly provided relief to the LA Wildfires by distributing 200+ meals, 800 water bottles, 1,000+ care kits, and 20 boxes of undergarments to evacuees and first responders.

Earned the 2024 Gold Seal of Transparency by Candid, reflecting our commitment to accountability.

Partnered with many amazing community organizations like Jiva Mental Health, Cancer Support LA, BAPS Charities, Khalsa Aid, and Northrop Grumman.

Featured in 8+ media outlets including Ellen, The Kelly Clarkson Show, ABC7 News, The NY Times, Yahoo News, and New India Abroad, to raise awareness about the challenges faced by unhoused neighbors.

Hi friends, join us in making a difference by supporting a good cause! We are raising money for our nonprofit organization The Good Karma Los Angeles Org to build a Mobile Community Kitchen (Food Delivery Truck). Any donation you can help us with will make a huge impact!

Resources for the under privileged community tend to only exist during the day and only in specific parts of town so there is little to no support available at night, which is when they might need it the most.

The MISSION for Karma will be to deliver food on the streets at night when all the LA City & LA County food banks & shelters are closed and, in pockets of areas without enough resources.

ABOUT US - THE GOOD KARMA ORG

Growing up, my dad would always ask me if I had done my good karma for the day (one good deed) and once I grew up, I found myself asking the same question – “Have I done my good karma today?” So, one day in 2020, I decided to just buy an old milk delivery truck, transform it into a food truck and start serving food to my neighborhood unhoused communities in LA. Months of hard work later and through support from the community, we had built out a brand-new engine for the truck, new tires, and a freshly painted food truck.

What started out as a personal project has now turned into a non-profit organization that delivers food to several communities and community organizations in and around LA. Every Sunday, come rain or shine, you’ll find a group of volunteers in blue serving hot meals, snacks and water to those in need in Skid Row.

Over the past two years, with support from our amazing volunteers and donors, we’ve been able to serve 50k meals, 100k water bottles and many other resources such as snacks, socks, dog and cat food, blankets, tents, tarps, toys and books for children, etc.
