For so many in our community, there are times when life’s uncertainty strikes; it’s completely out of your control and your plan is tossed upside down, but this is the place Garage of Blessings has met its neighbors throughout Island County for over 14 years. Now, the Garage of Blessings finds themselves in the center of that uncertainty and is looking to our community for support.

Unexpected life events happen, even to organizations...

Understanding the uncertainty and inherit risks of leased properties, the Garage of Blessings was seeking to purchase a property by 2029. The goal was to secure a purchased property, creating operational stability and allowing opportunity for program growth. While that is still the plan, unexpected life events happen, even to organizations. Earlier this year, the Garage of Blessings was notified our commercial lease would double within 60 days, drastically expediting the need for us to move. Since this notice, the Board of Directors has been working closely with private donors, local lenders and real estate professionals to secure a permanent location for operations.

The Garage of Blessings is currently seeking donations to help raise funds to finalize the purchase of a property in the heart of Oak Harbor. This property is easily accessible to our community and increases the space for our free community programs:

• Community Thrift Store

• Pantry of Blessings

• Helping Hands, a partnered program with Whidbey Grace Church

• Blessings Events

• Community referral services

Who is the Garage of Blessings

The Garage of Blessings serves community members in need by providing a welcoming place to receive tangible goods and basic human care at NO COST. Community members can select clothing, food, hygiene items, household goods, basic medical supplies and connections with people who care. We understand the barriers to sustaining a healthy household can be challenging. Whether our neighbors are facing short-term bumps in the road or walking through a longer journey, they know we are here to help. Sometimes help is a little extra food for the week, cold medicine for a child, support for the new baby, or sleeping bags and warm blankets for those struggling with housing stability.
