The Friends of the First Company Gonvernor's Foot Guard, Inc.

The First Company Governor’s Foot Guard was chartered in 1771, and is the Nation’s oldest, continuously serving Military Unit.

Raised bill 6440 has now been introduced into the 2025 Legislative Session.

With this, comes the chance of the First Company Governor's Foot Guard being removed from the Connecticut Military Department and having to transition to a private organization. An organization that will now need to run self-sufficiently and operate independently, now having no budget allotted by the State of Connecticut.

This Unit will forever support the Connecticut Military Department and the citizens of Connecticut, and we are NOT fighting this bill.

As the 501(c) (3) of the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard, we are hopeful that the communities, citizens, and others that the this historic Unit has served and assisted the past 253 years, will help the Unit in being able to fundraise to financially stabilize and operate independently, so that the history of the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard can be preserved and their service can continue on for another 250 years.
