Keep Bridge Chattanooga Shining in Memory of Ryan
Many of you know that our dear friend, son, brother, colleague, and neighbor - Ryan Keller - was the original visionary behind Bridge Chattanooga. However, five years ago today, Ryan was taken from us by suicide. Everyone who loved him has walked a different journey in coming to terms with this fact.
It is undeniable that Ryan had a zest for life that rubbed off on those who knew him. He joked, planned, adventured, pondered, and toiled to create avenues to make every day more meaningful, adventurous, and FUN for those he met along the way. It is likely that most people never knew of Ryan's inner struggles.
What we want you to know, and what we hope Ryan would be proud of, is that the work he started and the legacy he left continues today through Bridge Chattanooga. Ryan's experience inspires us to place relationship-building and skill-building to help our students experience mental well-being as a core component of Bridge Chattanooga's programming. Trauma and mental health challenges know no boundaries - these are human challenges that we must acknowledge, discuss, and prepare for each day.
There are many details to be told about how Bridge Chattanooga came into being and where we are headed. But for now, for August, as we remember and celebrate Ryan, we want you to know that we're ready for the 2022-2023 school year and we're here to carry on with our mission to connect students to nature, create adventure, and inspire joy.
If you would like to support Bridge Chattanooga in Ryan's honor, your gift will help us connect more than 100 students to nature throughout the next year.
Here's how your support can help:
- $25 will cover a daypack, bug spray, and sunscreen for one student
- $150 will cover snack and dinner food for one week of programming for 10 students
- $300 will fuel our van for one month of adventuring
- $1,000 will sponsor a high school summer intern's complete experience in 2023
Thank you! We are grateful for the gift of Ryan's life and appreciative of the generosity that has fueled Bridge Chattanooga's ministry.
