Hello! We’re a team of eight firefighters from Hayling Island Fire Station, proudly taking on the Dragon Grand Fondo – a grueling 215km cycling challenge through the mountains of Wales – to raise vital funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

This incredible charity has supported many of our crew over the years, offering mental health support, physical rehabilitation, and recovery services that have helped us return to duty and continue serving our community.

The Dragon Ride is one of the UK’s toughest cycling events, and we’re training hard to conquer it together. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to ensure that firefighters across the country can continue to access the life-changing support they need.

We’re reaching out to our amazing community – friends, family, local schools, and supporters – to help us make a difference. Every donation, big or small, goes directly to The Fire Fighters Charity and helps us reach our fundraising goal.

Royston Fire Station will be holding a charity Ladder Climb at Tescos Extra in Royston. This year we aim to climb the height of Mount Everest (8,844m) which is an incredible challenge but with the community spirit behind us we have no doubt that we will be able to complete this.

Many of you would have met us before and may well be aware of The Fire Fighters Charity but if your not aware, this is how they can support us as firefighters? The Fire Fighters Charity is here to support us whether injured, ill or in need of psychological support. They run health and wellbeing packages, rehabilitation services and a support helpline. These services are essential to keeping firefighters operational fit and ready to respond to the next emergency.

I'm sure those of you who know me are well aware of my passion and love for the mountains and climbing. So I've decided to set myself a challenge!

I’m taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge this April in support of the Fire Fighters Charity. Climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon within 24 hours. To make the challenge a bit more interesting I’ll be completing the climbs wearing fire kit and a breathing apparatus set on my back, representing the physical and mental demands firefighters face every day.

The Fire Fighters Charity supports firefighters and their families when they need it most, providing help with physical injuries, mental health, and recovery after trauma. They do vital work supporting both serving and retired firefighters, making sure they’re never left to cope alone.

I’m running the Chester 10k event on the 8th March to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity. I'd like to aim for 45:00m or better and I would love to beat my fundraising effort from last year that came to £285. Any donation, large or small, will help make an impact and give me some good inspiration during the freezing cold training runs in January and February. My Challenge

This year, I’m taking on two half marathons:

‍♀️ Watford Half Marathon — Sunday 1st February

‍♀️ Berkhamsted Half Marathon — Sunday 1st March

My personal goal is to beat my time in the second race, but more importantly, I want to use these runs to raise vital funds for the charity that has done so much for my family.

The Target

I’m aiming to raise £500 for The Fire Fighters Charity, and… if we get close to that target, I’ll commit to registering for another two half marathons by the end of June! (Yes — you can hold me to it!)

The Fire Fighters Charity provides physical, mental, and emotional support to firefighters, fire service personnel and their families when they need it most. Their work is often unseen but absolutely life changing. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure they can continue being there for people during some of the toughest moments imaginable.

Firefighters from Gainsborough fire station, alongside colleagues, friends and family, will be running a 50km section of the Viking Way through the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds. They will start at Caistor fire station and finish at Horncastle fire station.

This event is to raise funds for the Firefighters Charity who carry out amazing work providing physical and mental support to UK firefighters and their families. This support is also open to ex serving personnel.

However, that charity is as important today as it was then as our everyday heroes of the UK fire and rescue community face traumatic life and death situations. The Fire Fighters Charity is here to support them whether injured, ill or in need of psychological support.

My father was a Firefighter for 26 years and he sadly passed 2 years ago after many years of struggling with health issues related to a stroke, but throughout his journey of ill health, both he and my mother received tremendous support from the charity. It's time for me to give something back......

To support this charity, I will be running from The Fire Service College in Moreton-in-Marsh where my father started his career, to the site of the old Grindon Fire Station in Sunderland where he last served. The challenge will commence on Thursday 3rd September 2026 and end on Saturday 12th September and I will be covering a total of 246.1 miles over 10 days (an average of 24.6 miles per day). But it doesn't stop there. On Sunday 13th September, the day after I complete the challenge, I will be completing the Great North Run.

Welcome, I'm firefighter Karlowski and I have created this fundraiser to support the personal challenge to hike up Pen Y Fan in Wales on the **21st March 2026** in full fire kit in BA to raise money for the chosen charity with fellow crew from the service. At the time of writing this I am currently in training to become an On-Call firefighter at Nailsea Fire station apart of Avon Fire and rescue. With the long journey ahead of me, I want to start my service in the brigade strong and filled with good will by raising money or charity.
