The Education and Book Appeal - Ghana

This November we are taking a team of teachers to a remote village in Ghana to work within the local schools, college, and the wider community.

100% of the money donated will go directly to the people of Mankwazde. It will provide food & equipment to support their education.

Mary Otopha, a senior midwife in Mankoadze and mother to Yaa Yaa - whom she adopted after Yaa Yaa’s mother died in childbirth - founded the Yaa Yaa Baby Bath Scheme. The scheme provides a baby bath filled with essential items to support mothers and newborns during the first days after birth. By offering this gift, the project encourages local women to give birth at the hospital, helping to improve outcomes for both mothers and babies.

We are raising money to buy the products to fill a baby bath, each one costs around £85 and we would love to send 10 baths a month. If you would like to donate to this project, we can purchase all the required items and send them to Mary directly.

We Ride Waves - Ghana is about enabling the community to enjoy their beautiful ocean and have the opportunity to learn to surf. Surfing is such a social pleasure and can be a medium to uplift communities and illuminate futures. It can drive social inclusion and give youth empowerment - not to mention lasting improvements in health and wellbeing.

This would be a community led development whereby surf lessons would be offered to all school and college pupils, run by locals. We would love to build a surf club, where villagers can enjoy spending time and a surf school could be developed to provide jobs and bring income, empowering the local community to enrich their lives.

The first phase of We Ride Waves - Ghana is to get some surfing equipment out to the villagers so that lessons can begin. The second phase is to set up a surf club, and a surf school so that locals can run a business.

We're raising money to benefit one of TEABAG's community projects.

The Mankoadze Animal Care (MAC) Project supports a remote fishing village in Ghana by making sure local animals receive clean water, food, and medical help when they need it. The project provides jobs for local residents who patrol the village each day, feeding animals, checking their wellbeing, and easing the suffering of those living in tough conditions. By employing local people and buying local produce, the project supports the community, helps local food sellers, and strengthens TEABAG’s wider mission.
