We are the Cows at the Soma Gosala Sanctuary and we need your help to build a hay barn this month, September 2019!
Most of the time our bellies are filled from the grass that grows here at the sanctuary. In the winter, though, we eat hay because the pastures are covered in snow. This year, we're joining the Buy Local Movement and getting a whole winters worth of hay directly from our neighbor for half of what hay cost in previous winters! Because all the farmer has to do is cut, bale and deliver it down the road, it's so much more efficient and will be a great savings for the sanctuary!
The hay barn will save the sanctuary so much and actually pay for itself in 2-3 years. But we need the funds to make this happen before the neighbors second cut of hay is baled! Our goal is to build two wings off our current hay barn to create an additional 1900 square feet, which will hold about 1,400 bales. Wayne, our great cowherd, is organizing the build.

We invite you to help create space for our food…and we love to eat!
Our Sanctuary is non-profit and follows all the principals of The Cows Foundation. That means we will all live out our full lives here, our young nurse freely from the their mothers, we graze on organic pasture, and we are treated with kindness and compassion by the amazing humans who live and visit here.
The building estimate is as follows:
Posts, Concrete & Lumber: $3,250
Roofing: $3,050
Siding: $1,900
Labor: $2,800 (plus volunteers)
Total $11,000
Thank you for helping us! Moooo :)
