At the Pingry School, located in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, we believe in the importance of supporting our local communities. Through our end-of-year Spring Intensive course titled Sand to Service, students embarked on a two-week exploration of the following:
In this course, you'll learn the fundamentals of beach volleyball while pushing yourself physically and mentally. Whether you're a beginner or have experience playing volleyball, you'll grow both on and off the court, developing leadership, teamwork, and resilience. Play on the sand courts of New Jersey and New York City, connect with other athletes and professionals, and get involved in giving back to the community through service projects and event coordination.
As a class, we explored many great non-profit organizations and decided to create a fundraiser 4s tournament to raise money for The Center for Great Expectations, located in Somerville, NJ.
"Throughout its evolution, CGE has maintained its foundational commitment to breaking the cycle of abuse, homelessness, and substance use by providing comprehensive, dignified care to the economically marginalized, homeless, and those dealing with mental health or substance use disorders, pregnant or parenting."
While we would love to donate to more organizations, we believe it would be more impactful to focus on one organization at a time. If you would like to donate to CGE, we are asking for donation amounts that range between $1 and $5. We believe that it's important to reach as many people as possible with our fundraiser, so please repost and share this link.
