The Call to Give

The Call to Give is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to giving back to the community by providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Donations to The Call to Give are tax-deductible, allowing contributors to support a meaningful cause while benefiting from a tax write-off.

VISION: We celebrate life by serving and giving back to our communities and encourage all to join us.

MISSION: We commit to sharing our time and resources to support our communities with a meal on Thanksgiving Day.

THE WHY: Purpose, Cause and Belief

On November 4, 2014 Ian Pizarro suffered an ascending and descending aortic dissection and was life flighted to the hospital. He had less than a 5% chance of surviving the 14 hour surgery. His recovery included fighting off life threatening pneumonia, 15 additional days in the ICU, losing 95 pounds, and spent a year in physical therapy.

This second chance at life came in November for Ian and he felt compelled to give back to his community along with his friends and family. They decided to provide a Thanksgiving meal to a family and have continued to add additional meals each year since 2014.

THE HOW, WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN:

The partners and volunteers supporting the Call to Give will provide 100 families a meal on Thanksgiving in the greater Salt Lake Area are: Moonstruck Catering, employees at Mountain America Credit Union, employees at ClickUp, and members of Ogden, Davis, and Salt Lake County.

Each meal feeds 6 people and the cost per meal is $130. Our goal is to feed 115 families and raise $14,950.

Moonstruck Catering will provide the meals and they will be delivered by the team of volunteers on Wednesday, November 27th.

Each meal includes oven roasted turkey breast, honey glazed ham, hand whipped butter mashed potatoes, mama's amazing stuffing, brown sugar sweet carrots, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
