About The Bread Project
A good job at a livable wage is at the heart of the American dream to have food on the table, a roof overhead, and the financial means to thrive! The Bread Project's mission is to train low/no-income residents of the Bay Area in the skills needed to start a career in the food industry, land a living-wage job, and progress toward economic self-sufficiency. Our focus is on immigrants, refugees, the formerly incarcerated, and others with barriers to employment. Since our founding in 2000, we have supported more than 2,300 residents to remove their barriers to employment, skill-up, and get hired. Our specialty is preparing graduates for living-wage jobs and progressive careers in restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, cafeterias, catering firms, corporate food services, or entrepreneurship.
