ALS United Ohio

Hello everyone,

Our names are Brendan and Christian Scanlon and we are running a marathon to raise money for the ALS Association to find a cure for ALS. This is an important cause for us because when we were kids our Dad(Terry Scanlon) was diagnosed with ALS. We saw our Dad battle with this disease for two years before he went home to be with the Lord. Our goal is to raise money to find a cure for this terrible disease so that no other families lose a loved one and no other kids have to grow up without a dad that they lost to ALS.

We wish that we were able to spend more time with our dad and believe that this is a way to honor him by doing with we can to help raise money for this cause! Christian and I thank you so much for your generosity and with your support we can raise money to find a cure for ALS

As Jenn and I get ready to celebrate our upcoming wedding surrounded by family and friends, our thoughts drift to those who are no longer with us. Those who made a lasting impact on our lives and, if it weren’t for them, we would not be who we are today.

 

One person, in particular, leaves a void in our hearts, and in those who knew and loved him as I did, my father, Richard Palmer.

 

Richbo, or pops, as I called him, was always there for me. However, this one time, he will not be there on our wedding day. He never got to meet Jenn and see the joy she brings me. But I know he is watching and cheering us on and most likely cutting up the dance floor as he liked to do at all family events.

 

In his memory, we are asking for donations to the ALS Association, Central & Southern Ohio Chapter in lieu of gifts. The research and support they provide may one day end this terminal illness.

Julie and Jeff were an incredible doctor/nurse duo; Jeff, a kind and fantastic surgeon/Julie, a hardworking nurse practitioner. Those in healthcare know we sacrifice time with our families to care for our patients. Julie and Jeff were looking forward to retirement to spend more time with each other and their daughters, when ALS reared its ugly head. Watching my friend struggle this past year without her husband has been heartbreaking. I hope reaching this goal may help her find some peace. ️
