The Celebration Of Dr. Wold Zemedkun's Life
Friends and Family,
Our beloved Dr. Wold Zemedkun (Dr.Z) has gone to be with the Lord. He was welcomed into the kingdom hearing the words of the master in Matthew 25:21 : Well done, good and faithful servant.
As many of you know, his passion and voracity to help others and support the communities he has been a part of was immense. He and his wife, Aster Demissie, have been building Tesfa International (501c-3) to support one of those passions, clean water initiatives around the world, and specifically in our home country of Ethiopia.
In lieu of flowers or any gifts for the family in his memory, we would love our friends and family to help us raise as much money as we can to continue his legacy.
$10,000 goal is only significant because it was the first amount of money Dr. Z saved personally to build a well in his home village in Muka Turi, Shewa, Ethiopia. Please help us make that # seem insignificant and fuel his mission.
He loved all of you. Very much. We love you and anything you can give.

Tesfa International is a 501c-3 non-profit founded by Dr. Wold Zemedkun and his wife Aster Demissie. The video below is the result of a global transmedia project called Summit On The Summit, inspired by the life story of Dr. Zemedkun, who as a child barely survived water-borne illness. He vowed to go back to Ethiopia and dig a well in the village of his birth, and while doing so he invited so many unlikely partners to build alongside him and advocate for the cause at congress and helped US appropriations fund 400M to fight the clean water crisis. The video below is part of his dream being realized as he dug the first well in his village in Muka Turi, Shewa, Ethiopia.
The mission is to 'To Save Lives and Change Lives'.
We accomplish this by:
(1) Digging clean water wells around the world and save children from dying of 'water-borne diseases. UN statistics show that every 15 SECONDS a child dies due to water-borne diseases in less developed nations and more than 80% of the hospital beds in those countries are filled by people sick of water-borne diseases.
(2) Providing clean water wells in the villages, we advance education for girls and young women who expend their youth fetching the dirty water on their back, often long distance, and they can't go to school and
(3) Produce healthy labor force for economies. This is a new and ambitious non-profit; and, we plan to extend our reach in the communities we work in by building and supporting orphanages, helping school children and coordinate building of medical clinics.
We welcome you to create your own fundraising mechanism or team, run a marathon or challenge in support of Tesfa. Anything you do will help and every penny goes to the projects in country.
