Temple Beth El Hurricane Recovery
Thank you so much for your help in rebuilding Temple Beth El of Fort Myers after the damage of Hurricane Irma. Your support for our Jewish community gives us strength as we move forward with recovery.
We are unable to hold Rosh Hashanah services in our building due to power being lost for over 9 days. The building sustained significant water damage in our educational wing and some water damage in our front foyer, social hall and library. To return to our pre-hurricane state, we will have to pay thousands of dollars that will not be covered by insurance. We anticipate the following repairs will need to be complete before we can return to our Temple home:
- all classroom ceilings replaced
- light fixtures in classrooms replaced due to standing water
- drywall in educational wing hallway removed and replaced
- drywall in 2 classrooms removed and replaced
- windows in educational wing replaced
- windows in foyer repaired and recaulked
- library carpet replaced
- social hall ceiling tiles partially replaced
- playground fencing repaired due to tree falling on it
- fallen trees removed from property
- freezer, refrigerator, and A/C assessed for functionality
- mold cleanup, removal and remediation throughout building
The safety of our preschool and Religious School children is our utmost priority as we repair our building.
