Live Grit SOARS Summer Programs
Our Story
Live Grit SOARS is a youth development program that uses the sport of triathlon as a platform to teach kids leadership and GRIT. We began in 2016 as a grassroots organization determined to make a difference in kids’ lives, especially those in underserved communities.
Through swimming, biking, and running – the three disciplines of triathlon – kids not only achieve physical goals, they learn teamwork, accountability and perseverance using equipment and training not often available in their communities.
Live Grit SOARS currently has two triathlon programs with over 30 young triathletes participating. We need your help to keep the program running and growing!
Positive Results
In 2019, we partnered with Breakthrough (link to video) who have been working for 18 years to bring forward what’s positive about Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood and help eliminate its struggle against the cycle of poverty. Breakthrough envisions a safe, stable, engaged East Garfield Park where success is the norm and families prosper.
Live Grit SOARS was proud to add our youth triathlon program to this mission. We have demonstrated the positive impact the triathlon program has on our young athletes physically, mentally, and socially. We plan to add more programs to serve more communities throughout the year.
What Can You Do?
Our goal is to raise $3,806 which will allow us to get 30 of our athletes across the finish line during the Chicago Triathlon. Program costs include equipment, coaches, and race entry fees.
