2023 Tashane Way Foundation Thanksgiving Donation
On June 4, 2013, my family and I suffered a great loss. My son, Christopher Tashane Byrd, was tragically taken from us. These past ten years have been filled with heartache, emotional struggle and a process of healing.
Through this unimaginable reality, the Tashane Way Foundation devised ways to fulfill charitable goals in Christopher’s name. We cannot allow his death to be in vain.
The Tashane Way Foundation’s mission statement is - More Than The Four Corners™
We aim to instill in the community that there is more to offer in life beyond the four corners of the neighborhood that they live in.
In 2013, the year of his death, we struggled with celebrating Thanksgiving. However, Thanksgiving was Chris’ favorite holiday, he loved to eat! We decided to start there. That same year we gave an entire meal to a family in his name. The tangible impact for 2014 - 2019, was raising money to help feed over 350 families! We missed 2020 due to the pandemic, but in 2021 we had a very successful year! We purchased 500 turkeys for the community and helped stock a local food pantry. In 2022, the Tashane Way team delivered pantry items for over 60 families and gave away over 400 turkeys.
We need your help again this year! Your donation will be a blessing during this difficult time when grocery prices seem to rise every day. In the spirit of giving, to give my son’s memory even more, meaning, and to give to those less fortunate than ourselves – we are asking for donations to help this cause. The money that we help raise will 100% go to purchasing the items needed for this amazing event. Anything you can donate is appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.
Your donations will help us buy Turkeys and pantry items to give to the community where Christopher was killed. We will be including teenage Youth Ambassadors this year. With this partnership, we ensure that families are getting what they need, and the students are gaining service hours that will help shape them into caring, responsible young adults with a strong sense of empathy.
