Tariro - Hope and Health for Zimbabwe's Orphans

Join the Geisel School of Medicine Second Annual Service Gala in supporting the work of Tariro: Hope and Health for Zimbabwe's Orphans.

Tariro is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that pays school fees for orphaned and vulnerable teenage girls, enabling them to complete a secondary school education. According to the Zimbabwe Demographic Health Survey 2015, 70% of new HIV infections are found in adolescent girls. Tariro’s work emphasizes the importance of women’s education as an effective response to the AIDS epidemic. Attending school dramatically reduces the risk that young Zimbabwean women will become infected with HIV/AIDS. By educating young women, Tariro empowers them to build a future free from poverty and disease, and ensures they have the opportunity to live prosperous and fulfilling lives as valued members of their communities.

Interested in joining us in person? The Geisel School of Medicine Second Annual Service Gala will be held at Dartmouth College. The event will be on Friday, March 29th from 7-11pm in Collis Commonground. Student admission is FREE, with $20 admission for staff, and $40 admission for faculty. The gala will include food, drinks, a silent auction, and dancing.

Whether through GoFundMe or in person at our live event, all proceeds from your donation will go directly to supporting Tariro's educational programs for young women and girls in Zimbabwean communities affected by HIV/AIDS.

Tariro's extra-curricular programming includes our incredible traditional music and dance group, "Ngoma YeKwedu." Through learning traditional music and dance, our students gain self-confidence, engage in physical activity, and develop social networks with supportive peers.
