We need your help. One thing we never considered in the preparation of our 2020 budget was the viral pandemic (Coronavirus COVID-19) which is now infecting New Hampshire residents. The Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), is a free skilled nursing service and has been serving Tamworth for 99 years. We are the only one of its kind in the United States.
Our nurses are the ‘feet on the ground’ and most of our resident’s first line of defense for their medical needs. Of utmost concern, is equipping our nurses with protective equipment such as gloves, and N95 face masks. We also want to dispense hand sanitizer in the community. The cost associated with this initial phase is $13,211.75. Some items are back ordered but we are in the queue with our trusted medical suppliers when they are made available. We applied for an emergency grant from the Tamworth Foundation and they generously funded a portion of our request.
I wish I could say that this request will satisfy all the financial requirements, but none of us have a way of forecasting the amount we will actually need. For instance, if the impact of this virus is significant, we will have to look at caring for those who are quarantined in their homes.
For our neighbors and friends that will be shut in, we realize that they won’t be able to get out to shop or pick up medications. To address some of these needs, we are assembling a team of volunteers to staff community kitchens for meal preparation, which will have associated costs in groceries. Others are standing by to pick up medications or supplies at the store.
We need and appreciate any help you can provide. This virus has taken all of us by surprise and we are in it for the long haul. It is our fervent desire to do anything we can to help minimize the potential spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 and take care of our at-risk neighbors and friends.
We are a tight knit community looking after each other in this time of great need and we believe no step is too small. Our neighborhoods are connected in so many ways we want to minimize the spreading of this virus and keep our townspeople safe.
