Foxy was everything a family could ask for in a companion. She was loyal, loving, and devoted to the people who meant the world to her. But her family brought her to the shelter with heartbreaking instructions: euthanize her.
Despite arriving with rotten teeth, an infected mouth, nails so overgrown they were embedded in her paw pads, and a mammary tumor - clear signs of neglect - Foxy’s heart remained full of love.
Thankfully, the shelter staff saw a bright light in Foxy’s eyes that told them she deserved a chance at finding a forever home. Instead of following those devastating instructions, they chose hope. They chose to give Foxy the opportunity to find a family who would cherish her for years to come.
As Foxy waited patiently at the shelter, her gentle spirit never wavered. She sat quietly, trusting that someone would see her worth. But shelter life took its toll, and she developed an upper respiratory infection.
Racing against time, the shelter released Foxy on a foster waiver. For the first time in so long, Foxy experienced the warmth of a loving home and the comfort of a soft bed. Her tail wagged again. Her eyes brightened. She was finally safe. But despite being on antibiotics, Foxy’s condition began to worsen. Her breathing became labored, each breath a struggle. Yesterday, her foster mom rushed her to the emergency room, where the fight for her life truly began.
At Animal Specialty and Emergency Center, Foxy is undergoing extensive testing including blood work, X-rays, and a complete evaluation. She’s now receiving round-the-clock care in isolation with two different antibiotics, IV fluids, and nebulizer treatments. Her nasal passages are blocked and she’s really struggling to breathe.
This sweet girl, who was once considered disposable, is now fighting with everything she has.
Foxy has already overcome abandonment and neglect. She’s survived being written off by those who should have protected her. Now, she needs us to help her survive this.
Foxy is still technically a shelter dog, and the shelter simply doesn’t have the resources to cover these emergency medical costs. That’s why Take Me Home has stepped in to help. The encouraging news is that Foxy’s blood work came back with positive results, and with proper treatment and care, she could easily have 10 more years of life ahead of her - and she deserves that chance.
Take Me Home is accepting tax-deductible donations to help with Foxy’s medical costs.
Please don’t let Foxy’s story end in tragedy. Help us give her the second chance she so desperately deserves.
