This will be our 40th year!

40 years of supporting artists and causes of peace and liberation from around the globe. 40 years of discussions, education, trainings, meetings, protests, art builds, openings, artists talks and more!

40 years of community and solidarity.

Our center operates as an independent voice for justice, community, and cultural organizing amidst a city rapidly being transformed by wealth. Every dollar we raise goes to help us keep our doors open for events, shows, new artists, old leaders, community partners, and visionary activists.

In 2024 we hosted work by more than 250 local, regional, and national artists. We held shows focusing on Women's liberation, Queer identity, born and raised Detroit artists, anti-imperialism, and eco-socialism, and hosted solo exhibitions with some incredible Detroit artists.

We continued our monthly "political artists meetups." These gatherings have welcomed scores of local artists for discussions around cultural organizing, radical history, the art market, capitalism, national liberation and more. Bringing together new voices and old leaders to work through how artists can thrive and support our communities.

And through it all we worked with local progressive organizations who needed a space for meetings. Offering space for gatherings large and small on a sliding scale based on the organization's ability to pay.

It has been another whirwind year, and as usual our space is up and running only because of the support of our community. Our space has one part time staff person, and everything else is purely volunteer passion, time and donations.

Every dollar you donate through this fundraiser will go right back into improving this programming and keeping our doors open.
