Steps for SSNAP
This December, students and healthcare course representatives are welcome to join us for a Christmas-themed night walk in support of SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents). This incredible charity is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

By donating to this fundraiser, you will be supporting SSNAP in providing support for emotional well-being, receiving new medical equipment and training for nurses. More information about their work can be found on their website.

Many of us taking part are Nursing and Midwifery students, some of which have experienced maternity services first-hand either personally or professionally. Together, we can appreciate the integrity of high-quality care.

Raising money for SSNAP
On 15th February, Reggie and Bernie entered the world early at 30 weeks.

Without the support of the John Radcliffe Neonatal units and SSNAP we simply wouldn't be where we are as a family, now safe and sound at home. The medical support, love and care all five of us received in the hardest time of our lives has helped bring Bernie and Reggie home. No amount of fundraising will show how grateful we are, but it will certainly make a huge difference towards more babies and parents in similar and harder situations.

So as a group, Ellie, Alice, Joey, Emily, Hollie, Claire and Annette have gone from rugby to running and will be raising as much money as possible by running the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 12th October. Any money we raise together will go directly to SSNAP to help families and babies who arrive early like Reggie and Bernie

I’m taking a leap to help save lives—literally.

On Saturday, 9 August 2025, I’m jumping from 15,000ft (that’s 3 miles up!) to raise vital funds for SUPPORT FOR THE SICK NEWBORN AND THEIR PARENTS (SSNAP)—a charity that means the world to me.

But this isn’t just about the skydive. In order to take part, I’m also committing to lose up to 7 stone. This journey is about transformation, dedication, and giving back to an incredible cause.

SSNAP has personally touched my life. Thanks to their outstanding care and support, both my daughter and my godson are here today. Without the dedication and expertise of the SSNAP team at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, our story could have been very different.

Every single donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Your support helps fund lifesaving equipment, nurse training, and the emotional and practical support that families so desperately need during one of the hardest times in their lives.

Hey everyone, Tom and I are hoping to raise money for SSNAP, a charity that we hold very closely to our hearts. SSNAP support sick newborns, their parents and those that care for them; by providing emotional, medical, financial and informational support. They were a true blessing and supported us in so many ways during our first few weeks of George being born.

SSNAP are based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, providing support, care and comfort to families, like us, in need. From providing emotional support to bringing you a chocolate bar in your hour of need, they truly are the kindest team you could ever meet. We are eternally grateful to them all and would like to give back by asking our wedding guests to donate rather than buying us a gift. Every year at Millets, we proudly support a local charity that holds a special place in our hearts. This year, we’re honoured to support SSNAP – Supporting Sick Newborns and their Parents.

Why SSNAP?

In the Uk 1 in 10 babies require specialist care at birth. SSAP provides vital emotional, medical, financial, and informational support to families whose babies are cared for in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Instead of those precious early days with their newborns, parents are often thrown into a world of incubators, wires and medical interventions. SSNAP stands besides these families, offering comfort and care during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

They champion the right of all sick and premature babies treated in Oxford to receive the best care. They do this by supporting families, purchasing life saving equipment and enabling life changing research and training.

We are hosting an exciting ‘Big Farm Vehicle’ Weekend in support of SSNAP! With huge support from our amazing farming neighbours at Blanchard’s Farm, we’ll be showcasing farming equipment and a host of other exciting activities for all the family to enjoy.

The event will be free to enter, but we suggest a donation of £2per person.

Even if you can’t make it on the day, you can still help us reach our goal by donating online. All donations made go directly to SSNAP to support the incredible work they do.

I'm raising money in aid of SSNAP (SUPPORT FOR THE SICK NEWBORN AND THEIR PARENTS) by running the Berlin Half Marathon in April 2025 and every donation will help.

SSNAP supports sick and premature newborn babies and their parents at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford by providing practical and emotional support to parents and also fund medical equipment, nurse training and life saving research.

Jesse and our family experienced firsthand the fantastic support that SSNAP provided in conjunction with the first class care given in NICU for 2 weeks when he was born with significant complications. They picked us up in some really testing moments and it was always my intention to do something to give back and here we are!

Last September my cousin Anna and her husband Giles had Freddo prematurely. He was beautifully looked after by the wonderful team at the John Radcliffe and both Anna and Giles were hugely supported by the charity SSNAP which got them through a particularly difficult time. 26 Mile walk for a very special charity: SSNAP
On 18th May, we’re taking part in the Goring Gap Marathon Walk, in memory of Kate's beautiful son Jack.

We’re also hoping to raise money in aid of SSNAP (SUPPORT FOR THE SICK NEWBORN AND THEIR PARENTS), who supported Jack, Kate and Steve while Jack was in the Neonatal ICU.

Rob's 3 Peaks Challenge for SSNAP
In November last year, my cousin Emily was tragically diagnosed with a brain tumour while she was 30 weeks pregnant with her second child. This led to her baby (Charlie) being delivered 10 weeks earlier than expected.

Throughout their journey, Emily, Charlie and our wider family received exceptional support from the charity SSNAP – Supporting Sick Newborns And Their Parents (registered charity no 1146622).

To thank SSNAP and raise funds for their vital work, I’ll be completing the Three Peaks Challenge in May. Over two days, I’ll climb the three highest mountains in Britain – Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales.

Please dig deep and help me raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity. If you’re donating as an individual (rather than a business) please remember to opt in to Gift Aid. That will enable the Government to add 25% extra to your donation at no additional cost to you.
