Fund Steps Theatre's Unique Dostoevsky Production
STEPS THEATRE, an award winning theatre company, based in New York for 25 years is now producing the adaptation of "Brothers Karamazov" by F.Dostoevsky. The company needs help to tell this very deep and insightful story to the audience.
The name of Dostoevsky has becamen the embodiment of a psychological novel itself. Where he is bringing to life the most complex characters and then making them go through the intricate moral search and the rial of passions with the immutable humor to deepen the action even more.
“Brothers Karamazovs” is considered as a highly influential masterpiece and the main novel by Dostoevsky.
"The Mutt" is an adaptation which was made based on just one chapter of it - book 10 “the Boys”. But all of the lead themes, questions and riddles of the novel are passing the plot with a dotted line.
The Artistic Director of Steps Theatre Slava Stepnov is developing “the Mutt” in the traditions of the post dramatic theatre. Where the performance becomes the universal language where the action and the deeper meanings always stay more important than the words.
The production is going to combine the action on stage with the film projections, This way one story will be told to the audience from the different angles and perspectives and insensebly reveal the answer to the main question Dostoevsky has left in the novel for us to solve.
