SOAR Airedale Medical SOS !!!!!!!

While SOAR is a non-profit and we raise funds for the vetting, transport help, and placement of Airedales in need, we've found ourselves needing to reach out for help. This past month we received a frantic call for help from an Emergency Clinic. A young Airedale, Lady, was very sick and close to death. There was no apparent reason for her illness even after diagnostics. The owners were ready to put her down as they could not afford to pay for further treatment . SOAR took over and as the next 2 days unfolded for this sick little girl, a bouncy ball was discovered blocking her intestinal tract. Surgery was immediately scheduled. This medical procedure with diagnostics was extremely expensive. We are asking for donations. As you can see she is precious and deserved a chance to live her best Airedale Life. An Airedale Terrier was dropped off at a kill shelter in Louisiana, in 2018. She had been in 2 prior homes, her age estimated at 1 year old, and she was not sterilized. She was dirty and matted, and her downward eyes said she had given up hope of ever being loved. In 2019, a family did adopt her and named her Bonnie. Then 4 years later, they had to give her up. They called SOAR and she was added to our family.

Bonnie was taken to our vet for a checkup and she tested positive for heartworms. Her heart murmur was given a grade 3 of 6. As she allowed, her mouth examination showed a tumor protruding from the front of her mouth, and her teeth and gums were in bad condition. We were told that she required care by a veterinary dental specialist.

The veterinary dental specialist estimated the needed work would begin at $1500. She needed surgery to remove a mass on her palate, the tumor growing out between her front teeth, and 15 teeth must be pulled or cut out, too. SOAR said yes.

Next Bonnie had to be treated for heartworms. She began Doxycycline for 30 days and then received 3 shots- 1 months apart. This did not fix her heart damage but will prevent further damage as long as she stays on HW preventative. SOAR said yes.

After 3 months of treatment, Bonnie is recovering well and soon she will be looking for her next forever home. Watch for her posting if you are interested in adoption!
